QR code table tents
A QR code on a table works when two things are true: the phone can read it from a seat, and the guest knows what they get by scanning. Here is how to get both right.

What the code can open
Menu
A web page or PDF menu. Use a link you control so you can update prices without reprinting.
Order and pay at the table
Link to your ordering system's table page. Add the table number by hand or with a sticker if the link needs it.
Reviews
Your Google or other review page. One line saying it helps a local business tends to work better than "Review us!".
Wi-Fi
A Wi-Fi QR code connects phones without typing a password. Print the network name too, for people who prefer typing.
Loyalty, newsletter, events
Sign-up pages work best with a clear reward next to the code.
QR code checklist
Most failed table QR codes fail for one of these reasons.
- Size
- At least 1.25″ (3 cm) square; 1.5″ or more if the guest is across a large table
- Quiet zone
- A clear white margin around the code of at least 4 code "dots"
- Contrast
- Dark code on a light background. Avoid light-on-dark and colour codes
- Link
- Use a URL you can change later (your own page or a redirect), not a link that may expire
- Words
- Say what happens: "Scan for the menu", "Scan to pay", "Scan to join Wi-Fi"
- Test
- Scan the printed proof with two different phones before approving
Why the 5 × 5.5″ card
A QR code needs space around it. On the wider 5 × 5.5″ card the code can sit on one side with the reason to scan beside it, both at a readable size. On the 4 × 6.25″ card the code usually goes at the bottom, under the message.
Example orders
Prices for printing one design, before tax and shipping.
- 250 cards at 5 × 5.5″: $375.06 ($1.50 each). One code per table, with spares
- 1,000 cards at 5 × 5.5″: $772.40 ($0.77 each). Same code for every table in four locations
- 500 cards at 4 × 6.25″: $418.40 ($0.84 each). Tall card with the code at the bottom and an offer above
Every design is its own run of at least 100. See the full price list.
Questions
Can every card have its own table number in the code?
Not in one run: every card in a run is identical. Use one code for all tables, or ask your ordering provider for a link that asks the guest for their table number.
Do you make the QR code?
We print the code you place in your artwork. Generate it from your menu, ordering or review platform, then test it before you send the file.
